Date: May 2025
Location: Kyangwali Refugee Settlement
Event Type: Creative Youth Initiative
Theme: Youth Expression Through Music & Art
- The release of SOLFA’s first original music piece in May 2025 was a milestone in creative youth empowerment. Crafted entirely by youth from the Kyangwali Refugee Settlement, the song weaved messages of hope, resilience, unity, and environmental awareness. More than a song, it became an anthem of collective identity—a reflection of the challenges and aspirations of refugee youth who often feel unheard. Through powerful lyrics and emotionally charged melodies, the youth articulated the daily struggles of climate change, displacement, and the longing for peace. But they also celebrated culture, strength, and solidarity. The project gave voice to talents previously hidden and created space for healing and storytelling. The recording process itself became a learning experience: youth explored music production, songwriting, and audio editing—skills that will serve them beyond the life of the song.
