  • The SOLFA Youth Festival 2024 was an electrifying convergence of creativity, passion, and activism. Held in December, the festival gathered hundreds of youth, educators, local leaders, and activists under one empowering platform. Designed to celebrate the role of young people in shaping Africa’s future, it became a stage where dreams met opportunity. Attendees participated in everything from poetry slams and musical showcases to public debates and environmental exhibitions. Discussions on climate change and food insecurity were at the heart of the event, but the tone was anything but gloomy. Instead, youth proposed bold ideas—like vertical farming, community composting clubs, and climate innovation hubs. The event served as a safe space for dialogue, and its inclusivity allowed youth from rural, urban, and refugee contexts to connect and learn from one another. CEO Fabris Mulindi’s keynote address inspired youth to believe that they are not future leaders—they are leaders now. A major outcome of the festival was the creation of a youth-led task force to support climate awareness in schools. This festival was not just an event; it was a movement in motion. It amplified youth voices, catalyzed cross-community collaboration, and left attendees with a renewed sense of purpose. For many participants, it became the launching pad for climate initiatives in their own communities. It also positioned SOLFA as a leading organization in facilitating youth-driven transformation, setting a new bar for how festivals can go beyond entertainment and become vehicles for impact.
